Good mystery book...

Well, not really a mystery, maybe a family drama? Either way, it was good enough.

Also, I did not read the 11 books before this, because the blurb on goodreads didn't mention one had to.

Spoilers are ahead so be warned.

In here we gave Cope, a witch and Jude, a guy who hates witches. They are married with a son when suddenly Cope's great great great great grandfather and uncle show up after being trapped in a photograph.

Come to find out, Camden trapped both himself and his brother because his brother was more powerful, had killed others, and did not treat him well at all.

I know that we were supposed to be all heart felt for Camden the grandfather, but honestly, I felt horrible for Orpheus the uncle. His mother was a slave and his father was the slave owner who never recognized him as his child, even though he had more power than any of his other kids. His father also killed his mother when he found out she deliberately did not have more kids because of how he treated his son. He also wasn't freed from being a slave until way later. Which means the only slave in the story was basically forced to be the evil guy in this book. These white? I assume since I do not remember any of the 500 characters descriptions, were talking about having to put him down like a rabid animal. Really? No one pointed out that maybe this needed to be tweaked to not sound uh bad before publishing?

The ending was not great, but since this was not really a romance, more like it was a story that just happened to have gay characters, I accepted it. I hate it when one person in a relationship decides to put away and try to forget a part of themselves. A real partner would have fought that decision, but since Jude hated witches, he was happy with it.

Also, this book had 2 cheek kisses, one passionate kiss because of jealousy, a bj was mentioned but not done, and that was it. There was nothing else going on.
